Job Description Real Estate Development Manager Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI), a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1978. At that time, housing opportunities for adults with disabilities did not exist. Many people in need of attendant and homemaker support ended up in nursing homes. ASI offered a different option in which people could live independently in their own accessible, affordable cooperative homes or apartments and draw on supportive services as needed. ASI's unique model enabled consumers to share service hours so supportive assistance would be available 24/7/365. Now ASI is a nationwide organization providing accessible, affordable housing, property management and supportive living services to over 3,000 adults with physical disabilities and brain injuries, as well as seniors, in 141 residential homes and apartment settings in 31 states Today the need for supportive housing and assisted living options continues to grow - to enhance our growth, we are currently seeking a Real Estate Development Manager to join our team. The Real Estate Development Manager will be responsible to manage Accessible Space, Inc.’s (ASI) acquisition, financing, and development of new accessible, affordable housing sites. Identify and select suitable locations, considering finance viability, supplemental funding support, and availability of rental subsidy, in conjunction with ASI’s President/CEO. In addition, the candidate will secure appropriate sites for new ASI housing initiatives; secure zoning and conditional use permits; initiate and cultivate local government, local housing authority, state housing agency, and nonprofit community support for proposed developments. Must be able to negotiate, select, and provide contract supervision of ASI’s national tax credit consultants. As well as negotiate project-specific state-based tax credit consultant contracts in order to secure annual state housing finance agency Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) as well as state and community-based home funding commitments in support of LIHTC.The ideal candidate will have previous experience in developing affordable and/or special needs housing, utilizing alternate forms of financing. A minimum of four years of experience directing or managing real estate development. Specific knowledge and/or experience with affordable housing programs, state tax-credit programs, the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program, local Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (HRA) and community development funding sources such as HOME, CDBG,TIF, etc. Familiarity with general accounting practices/procedures, computers and standard business applications, public speaking, and have the ability to travel domestically on a regular basis.This is an exciting opportunity for a Real Estate Development Manager to join a company that is continuing to grow!!
